Are you a freelance artist
educator or sole trader who is perplexed about legal structures? Do you want to
gain more autonomy by forming a not-for-profit organisation? Do you want to know more about CIOs and CICs? Or do these acronyms simply leave you mystified?

Arts Freelancer Breakfast Club will explore some answers to these questions. Were delighted to be welcoming guest speaker Claire Cooke to give a brief overview of legal
structures and there will be a chance to share your questions, concerns and
experiences over pastries and a hot drink. As ever, there will also be time to
talk informally with your peers.
Claire is a Lecturer in
Arts Management at the Institute for Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship at
Goldsmiths. She is responsible for teaching financial management and convening
the Professional Practice and Arts in London modules
Claire has worked as a
producer, curator and arts manager for a number of organisations including at
The Barbican, BFI Video (the DVD label of the British Film Institute), Barking
Creative Industries Quarter, SPACE and The National Trust. She is currently
Public Engagement Manager for VITRINE Gallery.
She is the founder and
director of two charities: Mirror Mirror Education which produces
public engagement activities for galleries, museums and festivals based
around magic and optical illusion (with previous clients including The British
Library, TATE, Camp Bestival) and Architecture for All which aims to open up
debate about design history in and of the build environment.
The cover charge of £3 contributes to the cost of a hot drink and pastry. Please note If you book online there is a £1.50 booking fee. This fee does not apply if you book over the phone or in person.
