With the ongoing and hard-hitting funding cuts to Children’s Centres, Early Years Provision and arts and cultural organisations, the landscape provision for 0-5 year olds inhabits has changed significantly. The stakes are high. We know that providing creative interventions to the youngest members of our society is incredibly important, but how do we continue to make this a reality, especially for our most vulnerable families?
A day of energetic debate, creative problem-solving and networking, this event will bring together early years providers, supporters and influencers to make change happen. With a specific focus on work with 0-2 year olds this event will enable people with an interest in the highest quality creative provision for early childhood to come together and participate in a rich mix of keynote addresses, practical workshops, and debate.
Grown out of the success of the Open Sesame programme, led by Culture Shift, and delivered over a 5-year period, this event will include:
- A launch of the key findings from the Open Sesame Report
- A celebration of the legacy of this work & its most recent participants
- Sharing of practical ideas for working creatively with 0-2 years olds, led by Octopus Inc
- Key note address from early years expert and author Penny Tassoni
- Input on current arts and cultural sector development
- An Open Space session providing you with the space to start conversations and plan
- Networking opportunities to bring new attention and energy to the region

- Freelance artists, creative practitioners and early years providers
- Staff & managers from arts & cultural organisations
