Lewisham Youth Theatre (LYT) brings young people together from across the Lewisham community to create outstanding theatre in an environment of high expectations and collaboration. They work from the core belief that artistic excellence is key to expanding young people’s horizons and creating lasting transformation.
In 2024, Lewisham Youth Theatre was awarded a bronze Level London Youth Quality Mark, a quality assurance scheme accredited by City and Guilds.
They recently established a new youth-led creative hub on Lewisham High Street. All their workshops and performances will be take place at this new Creative Hub.
Programmes by age groups
The following programmes are offered for Free to young people in three ages groups (8-11s, 12-14s, 15-18s):

Backstage Theatre
Free backstage workshops for 13 – 17s of different durations:
- Backstage Workshop Group
- Backstage Production Group
- Backstage Advanced Group
HATCH 18-25s
Hatch Facilitator Training is designed specifically for young people aged 18-25, living in Lewisham, and seeking a creative career opportunity.
Other opportunities
You can also get involved by volunteering, seeking advice, and becoming a LYT member to access free space to work and/or rehearse.
