Second Wave

Emergency Exit Arts- Arts LAB
This summer Emergency Exit Arts will be running its second Arts LAB project for 12-16 year olds. After a successful launch earlier this year, Arts LAB will be back to explore the experimental nature of what happens when 2 art forms collide with one another, creating a cross-art form performance. Led by a team of professional artists, participants will learn new skills in two given art forms, experiment with ideas and develop a free outdoor performance for friends and family that will take place in a local public space.

The Albany Summer Arts 2016
Creative Coding and Multimedia Arts (With Call and Response. At Deptford Lounge. For ages 13 to 19) Learn to use digital technologies for making art and for creativity. The group will work with visual arts, computer code, film and digital music. Over five days they’ll produce an art installation or music event that will be shown to the public at the Call and Response gallery in Deptford.

The Albany Summer Arts 2016
Performing the Future: Sound, Illustration and Text (With Uninvited Guests, Sam Steer and Duncan Speakman. Deptford Lounge. (Ages 13 to 19) Work with theatre makers, a sound artist and an illustrator to create site-specific theatre about the future. This will include drawing, electronic music, science fiction writing and devised performance. The course offers the chance to work with new digital technologies, exploring outdoor and walking performances using digital and live experiences to create something unique. (Part of Hothouse at Deptford Lounge)

The Albany Summer Arts 2016
The Street Canvas: Street Art and Graffiti (With Emergency Exit Arts. At the Albany. Ages 13 to 19) 
Join Emergency Exit Arts (EEA), one of the leading lights in outdoor arts, for a week of colour, surprise and visual art. Work with two artists across the week to explore visual transformation in public spaces. The street will be your canvas to draw upon and draw ideas from. No previous experience needed.

Creekside Discovery Centre
Summer Holiday Family Activities

Explore a river, light a fire, catch a crab, hunt a grasshopper and have many more adventures right on your doorstep.
Activities encourage discovery, hands-on learning and are curriculum linked to science and geography.

Whatever Youth Arts (Lewisham) for ages 8 - 11 & 11 - 14
Are you shy or lacking in confidence? Do you want to use your own experiences to challenge prejudice through using drama? Whatever is a safe space for those with learning difficulties and mental health issues to met and create. Here you work alongside artists and art therapists who provide a fun and creative environment for you to express yourself as well as create an outlet to improve your well being.

100 Years From Now: Theatre (With Bernadette Russell / White Rabbit. At Deptford Lounge. Ages 13 to 19) One week to make a theatre show inspired by the future of Deptford. Learn theatre making, drama and performance skills and be part of creating a show that answers the question, what do we want the world to be like 100 years from now? Rewrite Summer School
React is a youth theatre made up of young people aged 13 – 18 years old from different cultural and national backgrounds. The group work together on drama projects and performances that explore the social, political and cultural issues that they feel are important. Young people are encouraged to create work which challenges prejudice and injustice and perform for new audiences. The week will be made up of daily rehearsals and there will be a free performance to friends, family and supporters in the theatre at Ovalhouse.

Act Dance Sing in our weekly Summer Holiday Courses
Montage Theatre is running a variety of weeklong creative courses aimed at 5-14 year olds.
Week 1: Mobsters and Molls – inspired by Bugsy Malone
Join Bugsy and the gang as they sing, dance and pie fight through the 1920’s. A real showstopper!
Week 2: Alice in Wonderland
Follow Alice on her adventures. White rabbits, mad hatters, flamingos, hedgehogs and a wicked queen – a magical musical for you to perform.
Week 3: Not Quite Happily Ever After
The villains have their say. Perform numbers from your favourite films and shows such as Wicked, The Little Mermaid and Shrek.

Love2Dance is a free street dance programme for 8 to 18 year olds in Lewisham. The programme gives you the opportunity to not only learn street dance but to attend shows and events to get you inspired as well as taking part in live performances. The classes Take place over three different sites: Deptford, Sydenham and Honor Oak Park.
Dates: Weekly classes start Monday 12th September at Honor Oak and Riverside.
