Draft Primary National Curriculum released
The Department of Education has released the draft Primary National Curriculum for English, with a focus on speaking and listening, reading for enjoyment, spelling, grammar and handwriting, and poetry recitation.
The draft National Curriculum for Mathematics and Science has also been released, and Education Minister Michael Gove said there would be a focus on foreign languages in the new curriculum.
The draft Programmes of Study are available at the DfE website, and will be subject to an informal consultation and re-draft before being re-published later in the year.
The new National Curriculum will be introduced in primary schools from September 2014.
